1. Read the passage carefully and answer the questions that follow:
Once there was a little seed that lay buried deep in the warm earth. It was a tiny seed,
no bigger than a speck of dust. All around it, the soil was soft and dark. One day, a
gentle rain began to fall. The water soaked into the earth and reached the little seed.

The seed drank the water and began to wake up. Soon, a tiny root grew downwards,

reaching for more water. Then, a little sprout pushed upwards, reaching for the

sunlight. The sprout grew taller and taller, and soon it became a beautiful plant with

green leaves. Birds came to sing on its branches and butterflies danced around its

colourful flowers. The little seed which was once so small, had grown into something
grand and colossal!
