13. Read the passage given below carefully and answer
the questions that follow :

Masiba lived in a remote village on the hillside. He had
gone to spend the weekend with his uncle who lived in
a village 25 miles away. Since there was no means of
transport, he left for his village early in the morning so
that he could reach there before dark. He reached there
in the evening. He was terribly exhausted. He was
surprised to find the village deserted. Usually at this
hour the village lanes hummed with life. Children would
come out of their houses to play. The menfolk could be
seen returning home from their fields. The women could
be seen fetching water from the village pond. But that
evening not a soul stirred. When he entered the hut, he
found it in a bad shape. It lay in ruins. It was clear the
village had been devastated by a severe earthquake that
had claimed 200 precious lives.
