Read the following passage carefully and answer the following questions that
follow :
'Reservation' was arranged by the State to remove caste discrimination and
compensate for the damage caused by it. Apart from reservation there are many
other laws which prevent or eliminate caste discrimination, especially
untouchability or provide punishment for it, which provides that the rights of
citizens will not be reduced merely because of change of caste and religion. One
such law was 93rd Constitution Amendment Act which later became law. Some of
these laws were related to education. One of these amendments was to implement
reservation for the other Backward classes in institution of higher education while

the other act was made to allow recruitment of Dalits in Government Schools. The
most important law is passing of the Indian Constitution. The above laws
continued to be passed from time to time such as in 1850, 2005, 23rd January,
2006 (1850 and 2006), 93rd Constitutional Amendment and 1950 etc.

Questions :
(i) Why was there a need for 'Reservation' ?

(ii) When was the Indian 'Constitution' passed ?

(iii) What was the purpose of making the Act of 1850 ?
(iv) When was 93rd Amendment made an Act ?

(v) What provision was made in 'Caste-Disability Prevention Act' of 1850 ?

(vi) What were the 'Laws' or 'Amendments' related to Education ?
