Q15. Assertion: A meter stick is used to measure length accurately.
Reason: A meter stick is divided into small units called centimeters, which help measure
smaller lengths precisely.
Options: A) Both assertion and reason are correct, and the reason is the correct explanation
of the assertion.
B) Both assertion and reason are correct, but the reason is not the correct explanation of the
assertion.
C) The assertion is correct, but the reason is incorrect.
D) Both assertion and reason are incorrect.
Section – E Passage based question (3M)
Passage: Magnets are objects that produce a magnetic field, attracting or repelling certain
materials, especially those made of iron, nickel, and cobalt. A magnet has two poles: the
north pole and the south pole. The north pole of one magnet will attract the south pole of
another magnet, while the like poles (north-north or south-south) will repel each other.
Magnets are used in many devices like compasses, motors, and refrigerators. The Earth's
magnetic field also acts like a giant magnet with a north and south pole, which is why a
compass needle always points towards the magnetic north.
Questions:
Q16. What are the materials that magnets attract? (1M)
Q17. What happens when two magnets with the same poles (north-north or south-south)
are brought near each other ? (1M)
Q18. What are the two poles of a magnet? (1M)
Section – F short answer
Q19. What are magnetic materials ? Explain with example . (2M)
Q20. How you can measure the length of a curved line accurately ? ( 2M)
Q20. Name three material which are soluble in water and 3 which or insoluble ( 3M)
Section - G long answer type question
Q21. Do magnetic poles exist separately like charge? Explain. (5M)
