12.Passage based questions:-

Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain (1880 -1932) was born into a rich family who owned a lot of
land. Though She knew how to read and write Urdu, she was stopped from learning Bangla
and English. In those Days, English was seen as a language that would expose girls to new
ideas, which people thought were not correct for them. Therefore, it was mostly boys who
were taught English. Rokeya learnt to read and write Bangla and English with the support of
her elder brother and an elder Sister. She went on to become a writer. She wrote a
remarkable story titled Sultanas Dream in 1905 to practice her English skills when she was
merely 25Years old. This story imagined a woman called Sultana who reaches a place
called Lady land. Ladyland is a place where women had the freedom to study, Work, and
create inventions like controlling rain from the clouds and Flying air cars. In this Ladyland,
the men had been sent into seclusion Their aggressive guns and other weapons of war
defeated by the brain-Power of women. As Sultana travels in Ladyland with Sister Sarah,
She awakes to realise that she was only dreaming.

रुकैया शेखावत हुसन
ै 1880 - 1932 एक धनी परिवार में पैदा हुई थी ।जिनके पास बहुत ही जमीन थी यद्यपि
उन्हें उर्दू पढ़ना लिखना आता था ,पर उन्हें बंगाल और अंग्रेजी सीखने से रोका गया। उसे समय अंग्रेजी को एक
ऐसी भाषा के रूप में दे खा जाता था ,जो लड़कियों के सामने नया विचार रखती थी जिन्हें लोग लड़कियों के लिए
ठीक नहीं मानते थे, इसलिए अंग्रेजी अधिकतर लड़कों को ही पढ़ाई जाती थी। रुकैया ने अपने बड़े भाई और

बहन के सहयोग से बंगला और अंग्रेजी पढ़ना और लिखना सीखा ।आगे जाकर वह एक लेखिका बनी 1905 में
जब वह केवल 25 वर्ष की थी ,तब अंग्रेजी भाषा के कौशल का अभ्यास करने के लिए उन्होंने एक उल्लेखनीय
कहानी लिखी जिसका शीर्षक था” सल्
ु तान का स्वप्न “कहानी में सल्
ु तान नामक एक स्त्री की कल्पना की गई,
जो लेडी लैंड नामक एक जगह पहुंचती है ।लेडी लैंड ऐसा ही स्थान था जहां पर स्त्रियों को पढ़ने काम करना
और आविष्कार करने की स्वतंत्रता थी। इस कहानी में महिलाएं बादलों से होने वाली वर्षा को रोकने का उपाय
