Helen was a normal child like many others. When she was nineteen months old,
she had a high fever. The disease left her blind, dumb and deaf. But she met
with an intelligent and kind teacher, Miss Sullivan, who gave her a new life.
She began to teach Helen words by a special method-the method of touch and
speaking. She put Helen’s hand in an object. Then she spelt the word on her
