1. Read the following passage and answer the questions that follow:
Greenland, the world’s largest island, lies in the North Atlantic Ocean. It is a
territory of Denmark. The inhabitants of Greenland experience twenty-four
hours of sunlight in summer and almost complete darkness in winter.
Greenland appears to be white because most of it is covered with snow, ice

and glaciers. The unfrozen parts of Greenland are covered by tundra, a flat,

treeless landscape. Low-growing plants like dwarf birch and whortleberry, as

well as mosses and lichens, can be found throughout the tundra.

Many marine mammals such as walruses, seals and whales live in the seas
around the island. Polar bears, arctic foxes, wolves, reindeers can be found
roaming on the island’s massive ice-sheets. Soccer is one of the most popular
sports in Greenland.
