भारत म व य ाणी संर ण

भारत म व य ािणय के बचाव क प रपाटी ब त पुरानी है। पंचतं और जंगल बुक इ या द क कहािनयाँ हमारे व य
ािणय के ित ेम का उदाहरण तुत करती ह। इनका युवा पर मह वपूण भाव है। व य ाणी अिधिनयम , 1972 म
पास आ, जो व य ािणय के संर ण और र ण क कानूनी परे खा तैयार करता है। उस अिधिनयम के दो मु य उ े य ह;
अिधिनयम के तहत अनुसूची म सूचीब संकटाप जाितय को सुर ा दान करना तथा नेशनल पाक, पशु िवहार जैसे
संरि त े को कानूनी सहायता दान करना। इस अिधिनयम को 1991 म पूणतया संशोिधत कर दया गया िजसके तहत
कठोर सजा का ावधान कया गया है । इसम कु छ पौध क जाितय को बचाने तथा संकटाप जाितय के संर ण का
ावधान है । देश म 103 नेशनल पाक और 563 व य ाणी अभय वन ह।
व य ाणी संर ण का दायरा काफ बड़ा है और इसम मानव क याण क असीम संभावनाएँ िनिहत ह । य िप इस ल य
को तभी ा कया जा सकता है, जब हर ि इसका मह व समझे और अपना योगदान दे। यूने को के 'मानव और
जीवमंडल योजना' (Man and Biosphere Programme) के तहत भारत सरकार ने वन पित जात और ािण जात के
संर ण के िलए मह वपूण कदम उठाए ह ।
ोजे ट टाईगर (1973) और ोजे ट एलीफट (1992) जैसी िवशेष योजनाएँ इन जाितय के संर ण और उनके आवास के
बचाव के िलए चलायी जा रही ह। इनम से ोजे ट टाईगर 1973 से चलाई जा रही है। इसका मु य उ े य भारत म बाघ
क जनसं या का तर बनाए रखना हैिजससे वै ािनक, सौ दया मक सां कृ ितक और पा रि थितक मू य बनाए रखे जा सक।
इससे ाकृ ितक धरोहर को भी संर ण िमलेगा िजसका लोग को िश ा और मनोरं जन के प म फायदा होगा। ब त शु म
यह योजना नौ बाघ िनचय (आरि त े ) म शु क गई थी और ये 16,339 वग कलोमीटर पर फै ली थी। अब यह
योजना 50 ोड वाघ िनचय म वल रही है और इनका े फल 71027.10 वग कलोमीटरहै और 18 रा य म ा है।
देश म बाघ क सं या 2006 म 1,411 से बढ़कर 2020 म 2,967 हो गई जो िव क कु ल बाघ जनसं या का 70
ितशत है। यह योजना मु य प से बाघ क त है, पर तु फर भी पा रि थितक तं क ि थरता पर जोर दया जाता है ।
बाघ क सं या का तर तभी ऊँचा रह सकता है जब पा रि थितक तं के िविभ पोषण तर और इसक भोजन कड़ी को
बनाए रखा जाए। इसके अलावा भारत सरकार ारा कु छ और प रयोजनाएँ जैसे मगरम छ जनन प रयोजना, हगुल
प रयोजना और िहमालय क तूरी मृग प रयोजना भी चलाई जा रही है।

Conservation of wildlife in India is an age-old tradition. The stories of Panchatantra and Jungle Book etc. present an
example of our love for wild animals. They have a huge impact on young people. The Wild Life Act, passed in 1972,
lays down the legal framework for the protection and conservation of wild animals. There are two main purposes of this
act; To provide protection to endangered species listed in the Schedule under the Act and to provide legal aid to
protected areas such as National Parks, Zoos, etc. The Act was fully amended in 1991 providing for stringent
punishment. It provides for conservation of certain plant species and protection of endangered species. The country has
103 national parks and 563 wildlife sanctuaries.
The scope of wildlife conservation is vast and there is immense scope for human welfare. However, this goal can be
achieved only if everyone understands its importance and contributes. Under the 'Man and Biosphere Programme' of
UNESCO, the Government of India has taken important steps for the conservation of flora and fauna.
Special schemes like Project Tiger (1973) and Project Elephant (1992) are being run to conserve these species and
protect their habitat. Of these, Project Tiger has been running since 1973. Its main objective is to maintain the level of
tiger population in India so as to maintain scientific, aesthetic, cultural and ecological values. This will also protect the
natural heritage which will benefit the people in the form of education and recreation. Initially, the scheme was
launched in nine tiger reserves spread over 16,339 sq km. The scheme now covers 50 crore tiger reserves with an area
of 71027.10 sq km spread over 18 States. The tiger population in the country has increased from 1,411 in 2006 to 2,967
in 2020, which is 70 per cent of the total tiger population in the world. The scheme is primarily tiger centric, but still
emphasizes on ecosystem sustainability. Tiger population levels can only remain high if the various nutrient levels of
the ecosystem and its food chain are maintained. Apart from this, some other projects like Crocodile Breeding Project,
Hagul Project and Himalayan Musk Deer Project are also being run by the Government of India.
