Q.1 Read the passage carefully and answer the questions given below.
The Amazing Ants
Ants are fascinating creatures that live in colonies and work together to achieve common goals.
They are known for their hard work, organisation, and resilience.
Ants live in colonies that can range in size from just a few individuals to millions of ants. Each
colony has a queen ant, whose main job is to lay eggs, and worker ants, who perform various
tasks such as foraging for food, caring for the young, and defending the colony.
One of the most remarkable things about ants is their ability to communicate with each other.
They use pheromones, which are chemical signals, to send messages to other ants in the colony.
For example, when a worker ant finds food, it will leave a trail of pheromones behind it so that
other ants can follow the scent and locate the food source.
Ants are also incredibly strong for their size. They can carry objects that are many times their
own body weight, making them efficient at transporting food and building nests. Some ants even
have specialized roles, such as soldier ants, which defend the colony from predators, and worker
ants, which gather food and take care of the young.
Despite their small size, ants play a crucial role in the ecosystem. They help to aerate the soil,
control pests, and even disperse seeds. Without ants, many ecosystems would not function
properly.
In conclusion, ants are truly amazing insects that demonstrate the power of teamwork,
communication and resilience. By working together, ants are able to accomplish great things and
thrive in a wide range of environments.

Q.2 Read the passage carefully and answer the questions given below.
1. Deep in the heart of a forgotten forest lay an enchanted garden, known only to a few. This
garden was not like any other; it was a place where magic lived and breathed. The air was filled
with the scent of blooming flowers, and the soft hum of nature’s whispers could be heard if one
listened closely.
2. The garden was surrounded by tall, ancient trees whose leaves shimmered with a golden hue,
even in the dim light of dawn. In the centre of the garden was a crystal-clear pond, its waters so
still they reflected the sky like a mirror. Around the pond grew flowers of every colour
imaginable—roses, lilies, and daisies, but also flowers that seemed to be born from pure
imagination, their petals glowing faintly in the twilight.
3. Every morning, as the sun began to rise, the garden would come to life. The flowers would slowly
open their petals, revealing their hidden colours and releasing sweet fragrances into the air.
Birds with feathers as bright as jewels would appear from the trees, their songs blending
harmoniously with the rustling leaves. Butterflies, too, would emerge, their wings sparkling as if
dusted with gold.
4. In the heart of the garden stood a magnificent tree, larger and older than the rest. Its bark was
silver, and its branches stretched out wide, offering shade to the creatures that lived there. This
tree was said to be the source of the garden's magic, its roots entwined with the very essence of
the earth.
5. Few had ever ventured into this garden, for it was protected by powerful enchantments. Only
those pure of heart could find their way through the forest to its gates. Those who did were
forever changed, touched by the beauty and magic of the garden.
