GeneralInstructions:-
1 You are aware that evaluation is the most important process in the actual and
correctassessmentofthecandidates.Asmallmistakeinevaluationmaylead to serious
problems which may affect the future of the candidates, education system and
teaching profession. To avoid mistakes, it is requested that before
startingevaluation,youmustreadandunderstandtheSpotEvaluation
Guidelinescarefully.
2 “Evaluation policy is a confidential policy as it is related to the confidentiality
of the examinations conducted, Evaluation done andseveral other aspects.
Its’ leakage to public in any manner could lead to derailment of the
examination system and affect the life and future of
millionsofcandidates.Sharingthispolicy/documenttoanyone, publishing in
any magazine and printing in News Paper/Website etc may invite action
under various rules of the Board and IPC.”
3 Evaluation is to be done as per instructions provided in the Marking Scheme. It
should not be done according to one’s own interpretation or any other
consideration. Marking Scheme should be strictly adhered to and religiously
followed. However, while evaluating, answers which are based on latest
informationorknowledgeand/orareinnovative,theymaybeassessed for their
correctness otherwise and due marks be awarded to them. In Class-X, while
evaluating two Competency-based questions, please try to
understandgivenanswerandevenifreply isnotfromMarkingScheme
butcorrectcompetencyisenumeratedbythecandidate,duemarks
shouldbeawarded.

4 TheMarkingschemecarriesonlysuggestedvaluepointsfortheanswers These are in
the nature of Guidelines only and do not constitute the complete answer. The
students can have their own expression and if the expression is correct, the due
marks should be awarded accordingly.
5 The Head-Examiner must go through the first five answer books evaluated by
eachevaluatoronthefirstday,toensurethatevaluationhasbeencarriedout
aspertheinstructionsgivenintheMarkingScheme.Ifthereisanyvariation, the same
should be zero after deliberation and discussion. The
remaininganswerbooksmeantforevaluationshallbegivenonlyafterensuringthatthere
isnosignificantvariationinthemarkingofindividualevaluators.
6 Evaluatorswillmark(√)whereveransweriscorrect.Forwronganswer CROSS ‘X” be
marked. Evaluators will not put right (✓)while evaluating which
givesanimpressionthatansweriscorrectandnomarksareawarded.Thisis
mostcommonmistakewhichevaluatorsarecommitting.
7 Ifaquestionhasparts,pleaseawardmarksontheright-handsideforeach
part.Marksawardedfordifferentpartsofthequestionshouldthenbetotalled
upandwrittenintheleft-handmarginandencircled.Thismaybefollowed
Strictly.

8 Ifa question does nothaveanyparts,marksmust beawarded in theleft-hand margin
and encircled. This may also be followed strictly.
9 If a student has attempted an extra question, answer of the question
deservingmoremarksshouldberetainedandtheotheranswerscoredoutwithanote
“ExtraQuestion”.
10 Nomarkstobedeductedforthecumulativeeffectofanerror.Itshouldbe penalized only
once.
11 Afullscaleofmarks80(example0to80/70/60/50/40/30marksas
giveninQuestionPaper)hastobeused.Pleasedonothesitatetoawardfull marks if the
answer deserves it.
12 Everyexaminerhastonecessarilydoevaluationworkforfullworkinghours i.e., 8 hours
every day and evaluate 20 answer books per day in main subjects and 25 answer
books per day in other subjects (Details are given in Spot Evaluation
Guidelines).This is in view of the reduced syllabus and number of questions in
question paper.

13 Ensurethatyoudonotmakethefollowingcommontypesoferrorscommitted by the
Examiner in the past:-
● Leavinganswerorpartthereofunassessedinananswerbook.
● Givingmoremarksforananswerthanassignedtoit.
● Wrongtotalingofmarksawardedonananswer.
● Wrongtransferofmarksfromtheinsidepagesoftheanswerbooktothe title page.
● Wrongquestionwisetotalingonthetitlepage.
● Wrongtotalingofmarksofthetwocolumnsonthetitlepage.
● Wronggrandtotal.
● Marksinwordsandfiguresnottallying/notsame.
● WrongtransferofmarksfromtheanswerbooktoOnlineAwardList.
● Answers marked as correct, but marks not awarded. (Ensure that the right
tickmarkiscorrectlyandclearlyindicated.Itshouldmerelybealine. Same is with
the X for incorrect answer.)
● Halforapartofanswermarkedcorrectandtherestaswrong,butno marks awarded.

14 Whileevaluatingtheanswerbooksiftheanswerisfoundtobetotallyincorrect,
itshouldbemarkedascross(X)andawardedzero(0)Marks.
15 Anyunassessedportion,non-carryingoverofmarkstothetitlepage,or totaling error
detected by the candidate shall damage the prestige of all the personnel engaged
in the evaluation work as also of the Board. Hence, in
ordertoupholdtheprestigeofallconcerned,itisagainreiteratedthatthe
instructionsbefollowedmeticulouslyandjudiciously.
16 TheExaminersshouldacquaintthemselveswiththeguidelinesgiveninthe “Guidelines
for Spot Evaluation” before starting the actual evaluation.
17 EveryExaminershallalsoensurethatalltheanswersareevaluated,marks
carriedovertothetitlepage,correctlytotalledandwritteninfiguresandwords.
18 ThecandidatesareentitledtoobtainPhotocopyoftheAnswerBookon request on
payment of the prescribed processing fee. All Examiners/Additional Head
Examiners/Head Examiners are once again reminded that they must
ensurethatevaluationiscarriedoutstrictlyaspervaluepointsforeachanswer
asgivenintheMarkingScheme.

ईश्वरको िोजी गदै मलन्दरठतर जान्छौेाँ। िास्िमा ईश्वर हाम्रै मिको गठहरार्मा बस्छि् तर
त्यो हामी बुज्दैिौाँ अठि बाठहर-बाठहर िोजी ठहाँड्छौाँ।
ii. आजका माठिस व्यथषको िचाठहाँदो कु रामा बेसी व्यस् भएका कारर् पूजा गिष िभ्याएर 3
दीयोको लजम्मा ठबजुिीको बल्विाई र आरतीको लजम्मा क्यासेटिाई ठदएको छ।
iii. रामे, चामे, हके , बीरे जस्ा हाम्रै िररपररका व्यठक्तहरूिाई कठििे पृथ्वीका तारा भिेका छि्। 3

iii. बरमाि एउटा बुढो लचत्रकार लथयो। 3
जुि रात हािा-पािीिे जुिीको कोिा बाठहरको रूिमा भएको अल्पन्तम पात झरे्यो, त्यही रात
बरमाििे एउटा िक्किी पात बिाएर त्यही िाउाँ मा झुण्डाएर जुिीको प्रार् बचायो।
