2. This question paper has four sections: A, B, C, and D. The total number of

Read the following passage carefully and answer any six questions,
selecting at least two from each group:

Social media has become an integral part of modern life, transforming
how people communicate, share information, and entertain themselves. Platforms
like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, WhatsApp and Telegram allow users to connect
with friends, family, and even strangers across the world instantly. While social
media offers many benefits, it also has some drawbacks that users should be aware
of.

One of the biggest advantages of social media is its ability to connect people.
It helps individuals stay in touch with loved ones, especially those living far away.
Additionally, social media is a powerful tool for sharing news, ideas, and creativity.
Many businesses use these platforms for marketing, allowing them to reach a global
audience at a low cost. Students and professionals also benefit from educational
content and networking opportunities available online.

However, excessive use of social media can lead to negative effects.
Spending too much time online can reduce face-to-face interactions, leading to
loneliness and social isolation. Another major concern is cyber bullying, where
people face harassment or humiliation online. Studies show that heavy social media
use can also affect mental health, causing anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem,
especially among teenagers who compare themselves to unrealistic online images.

Privacy is another serious issue. Many users unknowingly share personal
information, making them vulnerable to scams or identity theft. Fake news and

verify information before sharing, and maintain privacy settings. Parents and
teachers must educate young users about online safety and responsible behavior.
While social media is a useful tool, balancing its use with real-life interactions is
essential for a healthy and productive life.
