Man’s prime requirement is to be happy and free of tensions. A healthy mind goes hand
in hand with a healthy body. The soul of a man may be daring and eager to work for righteous-
ness and to fight evil within him and without. But, if the body is sick and weak, man cannot
lead a strenuous life of self-sacrifice and service. Health ensures continuous joys of life.
The man, who has passionate fondness for rational pursuits, seeks intellectual pleasures of
the mind that makes him happy. To the man of pure conscience, faithful discharge of duty is
pure happiness. Where the health of the body, peace of mind and joy of heart meet together,
there is happiness. Sublime peace in the inner world of man is happiness and in the harmony
of the body, mind and heart.
The source of happiness is within man, where the passions are calm and conflicting
desires don’t clamour for satisfaction, that is where you find happiness. Where wrinkles of
sorrow don’t ruffle the smooth surface of the heart and the heart is not bowed down by the
unbearable weight of suffering, there is happiness.
Nowadays, we are assaulted by various sounds to hear, sights to see, odours to smell,
and food to taste from all over the world and we are confronted with ideas, beliefs, concepts
that are designed to sway our minds.
Religion, music, education, art and business, all are designed to grab our minds and
convey a message that they want us to receive, accept and believe and as long as we live on
earth, we are responsible before God as to what we receive, accept and believe.
It is up to us to filter out the garbage from settling in our minds. We need to find a place
of peace and refuge from the world. We need to keep our minds focused on God, trusting in
him.
