Question No. 6 and 7 are case based questions. Read the passages given below and answer
the following questions:
6. A reliable measure of the hotness of an object is its temperature. Temperature is measured by a 4
device called thermometer. The thermometer used to measure human body temperature is
known as clinical thermometer. A clinical thermometer is made up of a long and narrow glass
tube. It has a special feature called a kink just above the mercury bulb.
(a) State the role of the kink in a clinical thermometer.
(b) “A few jerks are given before measuring the body temperature”. Support this
statement with a proper reason.
(c) Write one difference between an ordinary laboratory thermometer and a clinical
thermometer.
(d) Is it convenient to measure temperature of boiling water by a clinical thermometer?
7. Rohan visited different parts of India with his parents where he found different types of trees 4
based on the geographical landscape. He observed that trees not only help in maintaining
ecological balance but culturally, trees are deeply integrated into Indian tradition, while some
of them are considered sacred.
