Roger was a bus driver. After finishing his morning route, he had to halt for half an hour near an open
field, until his next trip. The field was strewn with plastic and other debris. This annoyed Roger. He
often thought that someone should do something about this awful mess. Like everyone else, he
grumbled and complained but nothing changed the situation.

One day, unable to bear the sight any longer, Roger began picking up some of the cans, boxes and
plastic bags lying around. His friends didn’t help but mocked him saying it was a waste of time. Slowly
but surely, things began to improve so much that he was eager to complete his morning route every
day and spend a few moments cleaning the area. After several weeks, the field was cleared of all the
garbage and Roger was pleased with himself.

Read the following passage and complete the tree diagram given below: (6)

There are three main groups of oils: animal, vegetable and mineral. Great quantities of animal oil
come from the whale. When the whale is killed, its fat which is called blubber, is boiled down. It
produces a great quantity of oil. Both cod liver oil and halibut liver oil are given to sick children and
other invalids who need certain vitamins.

Vegetable oil has been known since very old times. No household can get on without it, for it is
used in cooking. Soaps are also made from vegetable oils.

When a politician or an engineer refers to oil, he almost always means mineral oil. This is the oil
that drives tanks, aero planes, warships, motor cars and locomotives. This is the oil that has
changed the life of man. Because it burns well, it is used as a fuel. Many big ships use oil instead of
coal
