Read the following passage and answer the questions set below it:

(A) The baker or bread-seller of those days had a peculiar dress known as the kabai. It was a single
piece long frock reaching down to the knees. In our childhood we saw bakers wearing shirt and
trousers which were shorter than full-length ones and longer than half pants. Even today, anyone who
wears a half pant which reaches just below the knees invites the comment that he is dressed like a
pader.

(B) The baker usually collected his bills at the end of the month. Monthly accounts used to be recorded
on some wall in pencil. Baking was indeed a profitable profession in the old days. The baker and his
family never starved. He, his family and his servants always looked happy and prosperous. Their
plump physique was an open testimony to this. Even today any person with a jackfruit-like physical
appearance is easily compared to a baker.

oil that drives tanks, aero planes, warships, motor cars and locomotives. This is the oil that has
changed the life of man. Because it burns well, it is used as a fuel. Many big ships use oil
instead of coal

A) A prominent feature of the macaque monkeys is the presence of cheek pouches in which these
primates temporarily store food. Offer them their favourite food and they simply stuff all that they can in
these cheek pouches which can puff up on the sides. The food will be digested later.

B) Most macaques obtain a good amount of their food on the ground, gleaning for fruits, insects, leaves,
shoots and more. Even spiders are welcome on the swelling menu of these ever-curious monkeys. Most
macaques are sort of squat and thickset in build.

2. Student may choose any two activities: one from the Reading Skill or Speaking Skill. The other from the Listening Skill or
Writing Skill.
