The Sirijunga script is the traditional writing system of the Limboo
(Yakthung) language. It was originally created in the 9 th century by
King Sirijunga Hang, but was lost for many centuries. In the
17th century it was revived and popularized by Teyongsi Sirijunga
Singthebey, a Limboo scholar and martyr. The script is written from left
to right and has its own set of consonants, vowels and numerals. Today
it is used in education, literature and cultural presentation, serving as a
symbol of Limboo identity and heritage.
