1. Read the passage and answer the question:
Helicopters are one of my favorite toys. When compared to airplanes it differs in three
ways.
1. Have you seen a plane during its takeoff? The airplane needs to move forward
in its runway before they lift off upward. A helicopter can move straight up
without having to move ahead.
2. An airplane cannot fly back, wherein a helicopter can.
3. The helicopter uses a flight mechanism to hover in the air which means to stay
in one place. This cannot be done by a plane.

The main advantages of helicopters are they do not require a runway or large space
like an airport. They help us in putting off the fire by dropping water as they can hover
and they are used to lift tree logs cut from forests. As we see in movies, helicopters are
used by the police department in pursuit of suspects on the ground or to search for cars
on the ground and also in medical emergencies to airlift patients out of emergency
situations which avoid traffic.

Malala Yousafzai is a Pakistani education supporter, who supports for the education of
women and children. Malala Yousafzai was born in Mingora, Pakistan on July 12, 1997.
Her hometown was controlled by the Taliban group banning the girls‟ education. After
the Taliban began attacking girls‟ schools, in 2009 Malala began writing for the BBC
(TV news Channel) about living under the Taliban's threats to deny her education.
Malala Yousafzai was only 11 years old when she wrote for the BBC about living in
Pakistan while the Taliban was threatening to close girls' schools.

With a growing public platform, Malala continued to speak out about her right to learn,
and the right of all women, to an education. Her activism resulted in a nomination for
the International Children's Peace Prize in 2011. That same year, she was awarded
Pakistan's National Youth Peace Prize. On October 9, 2012, when 15-year-old Malala
was riding a bus with friends on their way home from school, a masked gunman
boarded the bus. The gunman fired at her, hitting Malala in the left side of her head; the
bullet then traveled down her neck. Two other girls were also injured in the attack. The
shooting left Malala in critical condition, a portion of her skull was removed to treat her
swelling brain. To receive further care, she was transferred to Birmingham, England.
After multiple surgeries, she survived and in March 2013 she was able to begin
attending school in Birmingham. In 2013, she gave a speech to the United Nations.
She told the UN General Assembly. "The Terrorists thought that the bullets would
silence us, but they failed. And out of that silence came thousands of voices. The
terrorists thought they would change my aims and stop my ambitions. But nothing
changed in my life except this: weakness, fear, and hopelessness died. Strength,
power, and courage were born." In the same year, she published her first book, I Am
Malala. In October 2014, at age 17, Malala Yousafzai became the youngest person to

receive the Nobel Peace Prize. She was awarded the Nobel Prize along with Indian
children's rights activist Kailash Satyarthi. On October 10, 2013, the European
Parliament awarded Malala, the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought. In April 2017,
United Nations Secretary-General appointed Malala as a U.N. Messenger of Peace to
promote girls‟ education. Malala was also given honorary Canadian citizenship in April
2017. She is the sixth person and the youngest in the country‟s history to receive the
honor.

In 2013, Yousafzai founded the “Malala Fund”, a non-governmental organization that
works with governments and organizations around the world to provide girls with access
to education. The main focus is on helping girls go to school and raise their voices for
the right to education.
