General Instructions:-
i. Question paper comprises Six Sections – A, B, C, D, E and F. There are 37 questions in the
question paper. All questions are compulsory.
ii. Section A – From question 1 to 20 are MCQs of 1 mark each.
iii. Section B – Question no. 21 to 24 are Very Short Answer Type Questions, carrying 2 marks
each. Answer to each question should not exceed 40 words.
iv. Section C contains Q.25to Q.29 are Short Answer Type Questions, carrying 3 marks each.
Answer to each question should not exceed 60 words
v. Section D – Question no. 30 to 33 are long answer type questions, carrying 5 marks each.
Answer to each question should not exceed 120 words.
vi. Section-E - Questions no from 34 to 36 are case based questions with three sub questions
and are of 4 marks each
vii. Section F – Question no. 37 is map based, carrying 5 marks with two parts, 37a from
History (2 marks) and 37b from Geography (3 marks).
viii. There is no overall choice in the question paper. However, an internal choice has been
provided in few questions. Only one of the choices in such questions have to be attempted.
ix. In addition to this, separate instructions are given with each section and question, wherever
necessary.

Food offers many examples of long-distance cultural exchange. Traders and travellers
introduced new crops to the lands they travelled. Even ready food stuff in distant parts of the
world might share common origins. The spaghetti and noodles. It is believed that noodles
travelled west from China to become spaghetti or perhaps Arab traders took pasta to fifth-
century Sicily, an island now in Italy. Similar foods were also known in India and Japan, so the
truth about their origins may never be known. Yet such guesswork suggests the possibilities of
long-distance cultural contact even in the pre-modern world.

India has traditionally been an agrarian economy, and about two-third of its population have
been dependent on agriculture. Hence, development of irrigation to increase agricultural
production has been assigned a very high priority in the Five Year Plans, and multipurpose
river valleys projects, like the Bhakra-Nangal, Hirakud, Damodar Valley, Nagarjuna Sagar,
Indira Gandhi Canal Project, etc., have been taken up. In fact, India’s water demand at present
is dominated by irrigational needs.
Agriculture accounts for most of the surface and groundwater utilisation, it accounts for 89 per
cent of the surface water and 92 per cent of the groundwater utilisation. While the share of
industrial sector is limited to 2 per cent of the surface water utilisation and 5 per cent of the
ground-water, the share of domestic sector is higher (9 per cent) in surface water utilisation as
compared to groundwater. The share of agricultural sector in total water utilisation is much
higher than other sectors. However, in future, with development, the shares of industrial and
domestic sectors in the country are likely to increase.

crore, about half the population of Haryana. The ETHNIC composition of this small country is
very complex. Of the country’s total population, 59 percent lives in Flemish region and speaks
Dutch language. Another 40 percent people live in Wallonia region and speak French.
Remaining one percent of the Belgians speak German. In the capital city Brussels, 80 percent
people speak French while 20 percent are Dutch speaking.
