Q. 6 It validates effective listening: The person NCERT 1 18 2
providing the feedback knows they have been
understood (or received) and that their feedback
provides some value.
It motivates: Feedback can motivate people to build
better work relationships and continue the good work
that is being appreciated.
It is always there: Every time you speak to a
person, we communicate feedback so it is
impossible not to provide one.
It boosts learning: Feedback is important to remain
focussed on goals, plan better and develop improved
products and services.
It improves performance: Feedback can help to
form better decisions to improve and increase
performance (Any two points with explanation; ½
mark for each point;

Q. 7 „R‟ stands for Realistic. A realistic goal would be NCERT 2 56 2
something that we want to achieve and can work
towards.
For example, “I spend 3 hours every day of the year
after school to revise my subjects to get good
marks in the exams.”
(1 mark for writing the word realistic; 1 mark for
explanation)
Q. 8 If we leave the device plugged in for a long time, NCERT 3 75 2

Q. 9 In wage-employment, an employee works for a NCERT 4 85 2

In self-employment, an individual starts business to
satisfy the needs of people. A self-employed person
who is always trying to make his/her business better

entrepreneur.

Q. 12 Every probability distribution is associated with a CBSE 2 20 2
graph that describes the likelihood of the occurrence Study
of each event. This type of distribution is called a Materia
Uniform Distribution. l
Example: Rolling a Dice, Tossing a coin,
etc., (1 mark for explanation; 1 mark for
example)
Q. 13 The survivorship bias is based on the concept that CBSE 3 33 2
we usually tend to twist the data sets by focusing on Study
successful examples and ignoring the failures. This Materia
type of bias also occurs when we are looking at the l
competitors. Example:
A hospital is conducting research on trauma patients
admitted to the ER, seeking to find out which
procedures work best. However, researchers can
only begin their studies if a patient is stable enough
to give consent.
(1 mark for explanation; 1 mark for example)
Q. 14 It is very helpful to standardize the values of a normal CBSE 4 46 2
distribution by converting them into z-score because: Study
1. It gives us an opportunity to calculate the Materia
probability of a value occurring within a normal l
distribution.
2. Z-score allows us to compare two values that are
from different samples.

Q. 17 For data analysis, we do not need the entire data for CBSE 1 3,4 4
consideration. Therefore, instead of working with the Study
whole data set, we can take a certain part of the data Materia
for our analysis. This division of a small set of data l
from a large set of data is known as a Subset.
Different ways of subsetting data are:
Row-based subset: some rows from the top or
bottom of the table are taken into consideration for
Row-based subsetting.
Column-based subset: specific columns from the
dataset are taken into consideration for column-
based subsetting. Data-specific subset: Only
specific data is taken into consideration for Data
specific subset.
(1 mark for explaining subset; 1 mark each for three
ways
of subsetting)
Q. 18 The purpose of the Statistical Problem Solving Process CBSE 2 21 4
is to collect and analyze data to answer the statistical Study
investigative questions. Materia
This investigative process involves four components, l
each of which involves exploring and addressing
variability:
1. Formulate Statistical Investigative Questions
2. Collect/Consider the Data
3. Analyze the Data
4. Interpret the Data
Consider that there is an annual event in your
school for which you all are planning to shortlist a
musical group for school.
To start with, we can start collecting data for each
class. Now that we have all the data with us, each
class can compare preferences of their class with
the preferences of other classes of the school and
explore the following statistical question:
What type of music do the students at our school like?
Next, we can pose a series of survey questions
that allow us to explore in more depth the types of
music students like. After collecting all the data,
we can look at whether an association appears to
be likely between different types of music students
like.
Then we can analyze the survey data collected
using a class as a sample for the school, and we
can plot a graph of the number of students who
like each type of
music.
The analysis in graphical form will help us to
identify the popular type of music that can be
used for the annual event.

Q. 19 The Central Limit Theorem states that distribution of CBSE 3 30 - 4
sample approaches a normal distribution as the Study 36
sample size gets larger irrespective of what is the Materia
shape of the population distribution. l
The Central Limit Theorem is a statistical theory
stating that given a significantly large sample size
from a population with finite variance, the mean of all
samples from the same set of populations will be
roughly equal to the mean of the population.
For example,
In India, the recorded weights of the male population
are following a normal distribution. The mean and
the standard deviations are 68 kgs and 10 kgs,
respectively. If a person is eager to find the record of
50 males in the population, then what would mean
and the standard deviation of the chosen sample?
Over here,
Mean of the Population – 68 kgs Population Standard
Deviation (σ) – 10 kgs Sample size (n) – 50
Mean of Sample is the same as the mean of
population. The mean of the population is 68 since
the sample size > 30.
Sample Standard Deviation is calculated using below
formula: σx= σ
√
Thus, Sample Standard Deviation10=
√50
[optional]Sample Standard Deviation is 1.41.
(2 marks for explanation of central limit theorem; 2
marks for example; calculation of standard deviation
can be
ignored)
Q. 20 We can perform data merging by implementing data CBSE 4 42- 4
joins on the databases in frame. There are three Study 44
categories of data joins: Materia
One to One Joins: One to one join is probably one of l
the simplest join techniques. In this type of join, each
row in one table is linked to a single row in another
table using a “key” column.

One to Many Joins In a one to many join, one record
in a table can be related to one or many records in
another table.

419 – DATA Page 6 of
SCIENCE – X 7

Page 8

Many to Many Joins A many to many relationships
is said to occur when multiple records in one table
are related to multiple records of other table.

(1 mark for number of joins; 1 mark each for
explanation of each type of join)
Q. 21 1. Protect Your Customer Privacy does not always CBSE 5 56 4
mean confidentiality because private data may need Study
to be audited based on the relevant requirements. Materia
However, the private data acquired from a person l
with their consent should never be exposed for use by
different businesses or individuals.

2. The private information that is shared should
always be handled with confidentiality Third-
party companies share sensitive data, either
financial, location related, or medical. They should
always have restrictions on if and how that
information is allowed to be passed forward.

3. Customers should always have a clear view
of how their data is getting used or traded and
should have the authority to manage the flow of
their confidential information across enormous,
thirdparty systems.

4. Data should never interfere with human will
Data analytics can average out and at times, even
discover who we are even before we make up our
mind. Organizations should begin thinking about the
different type of predictions and conclusions that can
be allowed and the ones that cannot.

5. Data should never institutionalize unfair
biases like sexism or racism. Analytical systems
can absorb unconscious biases in a crowd and
boost them with the help of training samples.
