Scheme of Studies for Senior Secondary (12th Class) Examination
Each candidate shall have to appear in total Seven subjects.
(A) COMPULSORY SUBJECTS:
Every candidate shall be offered the following su ejects:

1. It's mandatory to get minimum 33% marks in theory and practical separately.
No minimum marks are required in internal assessment but it is mandatory to
get 33% marks in theory, practical and internal assessment in aggregate.
2. Eveiy candidate shall opt Computer Science as compulsory subject.
Examination and Evaluation of this subject shall be done at Board level and
result in the form of Grades as well as Marks will be reflected on the Certificate.
3. Examination and Evaluation of Environmental Education will be done at school
level and the marks obtained by the students will be sent to Board by schools.
4. A candidate who has passed the Matriculation Examination from a Board other
than the Punjab School Education Board can opt Punjab History and Culture in
lieu of the compulsory General Punjabi subject. Such students furnish proof of
not having studied Punjabi at the Matriculation level.
5. A candidate who has passed Matriculation Examination from Punjab School
Education Board with ‘Punjab History and Culture’ as a subject can opt for
Punjab History and Culture’ in lieu of compulsory Punjabi in the 12ll‘ class.
(B) ELECTIVE SUBJECTS:
In addition to the above compulsory subjects, every candidate shall opt any one group of
the following groups:
Group I Humanities
Group II Science
Group III Commerce
Group IV Agriculture

1. In addition to the three elective subjects opted by a candidate out of the group, a
student may opt one additional subject from the same group.
2. If a candidate opts German and French as additional subjects, then INA of these
subjects will be calculated in proportion to marks obtained in theory paper.
3. Candidates opting for Home Science as an Elective Subject may choose at least
one subject from Sociology, Psychology and Economics if they wish to seek
admission to higher courses in Home Science.
4. The syllabus for Computer Application will be the same as prescribed for the
Science Group.
5. The syllabus lor Agriculture will be the same as prescribed for the Agriculture
Group.
6. If a candidate chooses Economics as an elective subject, he/she can choose
Business Studies or Accountancy as an additional subject and vice-versa.

candidate desiring higher studies in Ayurveda may offer Sanskrit as an additional

language. The syllabus oi Sanskrit will be the same as prescribed in the
Humanities Group.
3. The Syllabi in subjects of Economics, Geography, Home Science and Mathematics
will be the same as prescribed in the Humanities Group.

3. The student who opts Economics in Class-XI as compulsory elective subject will
have to opt Economics as compulsory elective subject in Class-XII also.
4. The student who opts Modern Office Practices in Class-XI as compulsory
elective subject will have to opt Fundamentals of E-Business as compulsory
elective subject in Class-XII.

• Welcome Life (210)
Welcome Life is an activity based subject for which marks are given under
INA.
NOTE:
Examination and Evaluation for Differently Able students will be done at
Board level.
