SECTION A
1 A detachable bar that contains shortcuts to menu and other 1
commands is ______
TOOLBAR
2 The area outside the drawing page bordered by the scroll bars 1
and application controls is _________
DRAWING WINDOW
3 An element in a drawing such as an image, shape, line, text, 1
curve, symbol, or layer is _________
OBJECT.
4 A fill that creates a smooth progression of two or more colors 1
that adds depth to an object is _________
FOUNTAIN FILL
5 Draw Artistic media tool. 1

6 Differentiate between star and polygon as star. 2
Perfect stars are traditional-looking stars and can have a fill
applied to the entire star shape.
Polygon as stars have intersecting sides and produce original
results with a fill applied.
7 What is micro-nudge and super-nudge? 2
Micro-nudging lets you move an object by a fraction of the
nudge distance.
Super-nudging lets you move an object by a multiple of the
nudge distance.

P a g e | 10

Page 12

8 What is a vanishing point? How is it represented in the drawing? 2
A feature that lets you give objects a three-dimensional (3D)
look by creating the illusion of depth. You can change the
direction and depth of extrude, the position of the vanishing
point, its placement in 3D space, and its color. It is represented
by ‘X’

9 Write the use of freehand tool and Bezier tool. 2
The Freehand tool - lets you draw single line segments
andcurves.
The Bezier tool - lets you draw curves one segment at a time.
10 What is the difference between cusp node and smooth node? 2
Cusp: The control points of a cusp node move independently
from one another. A curve that passes through a cusp node can
bend at a sharp angle.
Smooth: The control points of a smooth node are always directly
opposite each other. When you move one control point, the other
moves also. The control points of a smooth node may be of
different lengths. Smooth nodes produce a smooth transition
between line segments.
11 Differentiate between weld and group? 2
Welding several objects binds them together to create one object
with a single outline. This new object uses the welded objects'
perimeter as its outline, and all intersecting lines disappear.
When you group two or more objects, they are treated as a single
unit but retain their individual attributes. Grouping lets you
apply the same formatting, properties, and other changes to all
the objects within the group at the same time. In addition,
grouping helps prevent accidental changes to the position of an
object in relation to other objects.
12 Write the use of wireframe lens and magnify lens. 2
Wireframe - Lets you display the object area beneath the lens
with the outline or fill color of your choice. For example, if you

P a g e | 11

Page 13

set red for the outline and blue for the fill, all areas beneath the
lens appear to have red outlines and blue fills.

Magnify - Lets you magnify an area on an object by an amount
that you specify. The magnify lens overrides the original
object’s fill, making the object look transparent.
13 Explain with illustrations, the three types of contours. 3

14 What is an envelope? What are its different types? Draw an 3
example.
Envelope: A feature that allows you to distort the shape of an
object. Distortion is created by dragging nodes on an imaginary
box (the envelope) which in turn distorts the object.
The different types of envelopes are Straight line, Single Arc,
Double Arc, Unconstrained Arc.

SECTION B
15 The _______ tool allows you to select a rectangular or circular 1
area of a layer to change or delete.
MARQUEE

16 To select a new color in the foreground or background squares, 1
use the ______ tool.
COLOR PICKER / EYEDROPPER

17 A device that captures images from photographic prints, posters, 1
magazine pages, and similar sources for computer editing and
display is ________.
SCANNER

Page 14

18 The tool which is used to remove the red reflection caused by a 1
camera's flash is________.

RED EYE TOOL

19 Draw the Art History Brush tool. 1

20 What is the difference between the Image Size and Canvas Size 2
commands?

Image Size scales the content when it changes the document
dimensions while Canvas Size only changes the document
dimensions.

21 Name at least two differences between using the Crop command 2
and the Crop tool.
With the Crop command, the area you want to keep is first
defined by using a Marquee tool to create a selection border.
The Crop command has no options, unlike the Crop tool which
has many. The Crop tool gives you the option of hiding or
deleting areas beyond the crop boundaries while the Crop
command will always delete the extra areas.
22 What are the five key decisions involved in creating a new 2
image?
Name of the image, width, height, resolution, and the colour
space or mode.
23 Name four criteria on which you can make selections using the 2
Colour Range dialog.
Sampled colours (using an Eyedropper), preset colours,
highlights/midtones/shadows, or out of gamut colours.
24 What is the difference between the Grow and Similar 2
commands?
Grow will add adjacent pixels to a selection while Similar will
add both adjacent and non-adjacent pixels.

P a g e | 13

Page 15

25 What are the four ‘Type tool’ variations? 2

Horizontal Type tool, Vertical Type tool, Horizontal Type Mask
tool, and Vertical Type Mask tool.
Point type doesn't have a bounding box while paragraph type
does. Point type is created when you begin by clicking with the
Type tool in the image. Paragraph type is created when you
define an area for the type that becomes a bounding box. Point
type doesn't wrap automatically so its line length will continue
until you stop typing or enter a carriage return to force a line
break. Paragraph type wraps automatically when you reach the
boundary of the bounding box.

26 Describe how to add to, remove from and move a selection. 2

You can add to a selection by holding down the Shift key or by
clicking on the second box in the Tool Options panel and then
creating another selection. Holding down the Alt (Option) key or
clicking on the third box in the Tool Options panel and then
creating another selection will remove from your selection. To
move a selection click on a selection tool and click and drag
within your active selection. Alternately, you can use the
directional arrow keys to nudge a selection as long as the Move
tool isn't the active tool.
27 Write any 6 controls in the Character panel. 3

A. Font Family
B. Font Size
C. Vertical Scale
D. Set Tsume option
E. Tracking
F. Baseline Shift
G. Language
H. Font Style
I. ILeading
J. Horizontal scale
K. Kerning

28 Explain any three selection modification options. 3

a. Add to selection (hold down Shift while using the
following tools: Magic Wand, Lasso tools, Marquee tools)

P a g e | 14

Page 16

b. Subtract from selection (hold down Alt/Option while
using the following tools: Magic Wand, Lasso tools,

c. Intersect selections (hold down Alt/Option and Shift
together to intersect a new selection with a previous one)
d. Select All (Ctrl/Cmd + A to select the whole canvas)
e. Deselect (Ctrl/Cmd + D to deselect everything)
f. Reselect (Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + D to reselect previous
selection)
