three times to remove sizing(starch) .It is then well dried and ironed

7. In spray printing, the toothbrush is first wetted in paint of the right
consistency. With the help of a spatula or a scale or a knife, the paint is
spattered on the stencil over the cloth. 2mks

8. In Patola ,the yarn is tied and dyed according to the design before
weaving and are then woven to form intricate multi-coloured designs.
In Bandhani , woven fabric is tied anddyed to have dots and lines.

9. In stencil printing, multicoloured design can be obtained by merging one
colour with other. Use a fresh piece of sponge for each colour ,and use it
for that colour throughout the printing. 2mks

10.Designing : 1mark. (consider students drawing)
Explanation of Dyeing process : 2marks.
 Make a smooth paste of powder dye in small container for adding
it to main dye bath. (hot or coldwater dye)
 Hand full of saltand few drops of lime juice is added to the dye
bath ,which acts as fixer .
 Wet the tied cloth before dipping it in the dye bath ,so that dye
spreads evenly.
 Dip the tied cloth in dye bath and leave for twenty minutes
inboiling dye.If using hot water dye bath without boiling,than
leavethe clothin dye bath for forty minutes.
 Remove the cloth from dye bath and wash under running tap till
colour stops running.
 Open the ties and dry under the shade.

11. Designing 1 mark. (consider students design)
Explanation of Waxing process in batik. (2marks)
 Take three parts of paraffin wax and two parts of bee wax.
 Heat it in double boiler,so that wax melts evenly.and willnot burn
or catch fire.
 Once the wax is melted at 1100c ,apply it on the areaswhere cracks
are requiredandwhere do not want the dye to seep through.
 The wax is applied with a brush or T-janting.
 Apply the wax on the both sides of cloth.
 Allow the cloth to dry.
 Gently crush or crumple the fabric to obtain cracks.

Explanation of making a symmetrical stencil. (2marks)
 Take a square piece of paper.
 Fold the paper into half.
 Draw the design on the folded inner edge.
 Cut the design through the stencil board,using a stencilcutting knife
or blade or paper.
