A newspaper at first was nothing more than a paper which gave news.

In its infancy, it had no other aim. But as it developed, it began to be

used for various other purposes and served several ends. Today, it has

become a tremendous force for good and evil in the world. It not only

continues, as before, to give news but also comments on them,

criticises the people and the government, deals with social, political,

industrial and religious questions, reviews books and periodicals,

ventilates grievances and does many other things.

Newspapers also wield a tremendous influence to break down barriers

between nations and help in framing themselves into a great

the columns of the newspaper.

45. Too much importance must not be attached to the wrong acts

done by children, particularly if they happen to be of a minor

nature. Many boys and girls at a younger age are likely to be in

the habit of stealing, neglecting their studies, slipping out of their

classes, or using bad language. In nearly every case, the root

cause of the trouble is the fear that proper care of the child is not

taken in the house, or sufficient interest is not shown to him. But

if the parents were wise, they would correct the faults of their

to change for the better under fear of the rod. Physical

punishment does not improve them. It only makes them worse

than before.
