False Acceptance Ratio (FAR) : The number of istances detected
over a sample data where a wrong person is authenticated.
False Rejection Ratio (FRR) : The number of istances detected
over a sample data where a right person is not authenticated FAR
and FRR are the parameters by which we can measure the
reliability of the biometric attendance system (BAS). FAR can be
computed by using a formula as below.
FAR = (NFA/NEIA) * 100 [%]
Where,
FAR = False Acceptance Rate
34 6
NFA= Number of False Acceptance
NEIA = Number of Enrollee Identification Attempt
For any good biometric system the FAR should be very low in the
range of 0.01 percent.
FRR can be computed by using a formula as given below.
FRR = (NFR/NEIA) * 100 [%]
Where,
FRR = False Rejection Rate
NFR= Number of False Rejection
