36. On a hot summer day, a thirsty lion walked down to a

pool to drink water. At the same time, a boar arrived at

the same pool to quench his thirst. They quarrelled as to

who should drink first.

‘‘Get out of my way, let me drink first !’’ growled the lion.

‘‘No, you won’t ! I came here first, so I’ll drink first,’’

replied the boar. Soon, they started to attack each other.

Seeing them fight, two vultures settled on a tree

discussing, ‘‘How nice it would be if they both kill each

vultures at a distance. ‘‘If we fight with each other, one of

us will get killed. They saw us fighting and that’s why

they are here,’’ said the lion.

‘‘It is better for us to become friends rather than to be

food for these vultures,’’ replied the boar.
