Q3 Make a list of the chapters in which you �nd mention of metal working. What are the metals objects
mentioned or shown in those chapters?

Answer. Chapters 4, 8 and 9 mention metal working. Various metal tools have been
mentioned; like ploughshare, sickle, axe and sword. Ploughshare and sickle were used in farming. Axe was

Q4 Read the story on page 130. In what ways is the monkey king similar to or different from the kings you
read about in Chapters 6 and 11?

Answer. The monkey king shows some similarities and some differences with human kings. While many
kings assumed grand titles, the monkey king did not have such title. Most of the kings took good care of
their subjects. The monkey king shows the same mindset.

Q5 Find out more and tell a story from one of the epics.

Answer. The Ramayana contains the story of Hanuman and other monkeys. They promised to help Ram in
his search of Sita. Hanuman had special powers which enables him to reach Sri Lanka, inspite of many
dif�culties. He found the whereabouts of Sita, who was kept in Ashok Vatika by Ravan. He also set Lank on
�re. He also brought Sanjivmi herbs to treat Lakshman. He remained of Ram.

Q6 List some steps that can be taken to make buildings and monuments accessible to differently abled
people.

Answer. The steps to be taken to make buildings and monuments accessible to differently abled people:
(i) Construction of a ramp;
(ii) Railing can be placed on the side walls of the staircase.
(iii) The steps can be renovated so that people may not fall on the slippery ground.

Q7 Try and list as many uses of paper as you can.

Answer. Paper is used for:
(i) making note-books on which we write.
(ii) making books.
(iii) newspapers.
(iv) packing materials.
(v) postcard, envelopes, postal stamps, revenue stamps.

Q8 If you could visit any one of the places described in this chapter, which would you choose and why?

Answer. Sample answer:
If I get an opportunity to visit any one of these places, I would plan to go to Mahabalipuram. The main
reasons are :
(i) It is built on the waterfront, near the Bay of Bengal.
(ii) Both monolithic and structural temples are built in the same complex.
