ducklings and chicks. At the stream the hen cannot swim.

The duckʼs plan. The hen sits on the duckʼs back. Each chick sits on a ducklingʼs back. So
everyone gets across the water.
The poem “Coloursˮ. One child has red, yellow and blue crayons. The other has green,
purple and black. Each one needs a colour the other has.
Sharing makes a full pack. Two small sets of crayons become one full pack when the
children share them.
Action words. A word that tells what someone does is an action word — run, jump, write,
smile.
Letters and word friends. The English alphabet has 26 letters, A to Z. Words are arranged
by their first letter. Some words join to make a new word: rain + bow = rainbow.
