Sample answer: My grandmother played gilli-danda and lagori. She taught me
lagori. We pile up seven flat stones. One team knocks them down with a ball. Then
they must build the pile again before the other team hits them with the ball.

− Exp anat on
l i

Do it in three steps:
 Ask. Ask your grandmother, grandfather or an uncle, “What games did you play as a
child?ˮ
 Learn. Pick one game. Ask how many players it needs and how it is won.
 Share. In class, sit in a small group and teach that game to your friends.

Some old games you may hear about: gilli-danda, lagori, kancha, kho-kho,
chaupar, pachisi, stapu and kabaddi.

Why we ask our elders: Many of these games need no money and no toys —

only a ball, a stick or a few stones. If nobody teaches them, they will be
forgotten.

by myself — you say the whole poem alone.

For parents and teachers: The book says the child fills this sheet with help from
parents and teachers. It is not a test. It only shows what to practise next, so the
child should tick honestly.
