NCERT Solutions — Chapter 8: The Lagori Champions
Chapter 8 of Santoor opens Unit 3, Fun with Games. The Lagori Champions is a play — a story told in two
parts, all in the words the children speak. In Part I, Prakash comes to his cousin Ravi’s village and meets his
friends. He has never heard of Lagori, so Nidhi and Imran explain it: seven flat stones, a ball and two teams.
Prakash then says that in Rajasthan the same game is called Satoliya. In Part II the match is played. The
Sundarpur Tigers win, both teams shake hands, and the whole village celebrates together.

Q1 Part I — On the basis of your understanding the text, answer the following.
1. Who joined the group in the end?
Imran joined the group in the end.
The children were already talking about Lagori. Nidhi had just begun to explain the game. Then
the book says, (Imran joins them).
Nidhi was happy to see him. She said, “Look! Imran is here. He is also a champion of this game.
He will explain.”
Why this matters in the story: Nidhi could only tell Prakash the name of the game.
Imran is a champion, so he could tell him the rules — how the stones are stacked,
how the ball is thrown and where the boundary is.

Q2 Part I — On the basis of your understanding the text, answer the following.
2. How many and what kind of stones are used in this game?
Seven stones are used, and they are flat stones.
Nidhi says, “Lagori is actually a game of seven stones.” Imran then says, “In Lagori the seven flat
stones are stacked one above the other.”

The pile of seven flat stones used in Lagori, with the ball lying beside it, as the book draws it on page
74. The biggest stone goes at the bottom and the smallest on top.
Why the stones must be flat: A round stone would roll away. A flat stone has a level
top, so the next stone sits still on it. That is how seven stones can be piled up one
above the other without falling.
Tip: The biggest flat stone goes at the bottom and the smallest at the top. A wide
bottom keeps the whole pile steady.

Q3 Part I — On the basis of your understanding the text, answer the following.
3. In which state of India is the game of lagori is also known as Satoliya?
In Rajasthan.
When Imran finished explaining the game, Prakash said, “Oh! Okay, you mean Satoliya.” Deepa
asked what Satoliya was, and Prakash said, “In Rajasthan, we call this game Satoliya.”
Guneet then said it clearly: “in our Sundarpur village, we call it Lagori, and in Rajasthan, it is
called as Satoliya.”
Why one game has two names: The same game is played all over our country. Each
place gives it a name in its own language. The game does not change — only the
name does.
A slip in the book: The printed question reads “In which state of India is the game
of lagori is also known as Satoliya?” The word is has been typed twice. It should read,
“In which state of India is the game of Lagori also known as Satoliya?” — and Lagori
should begin with a capital L.
Q4 Part I — On the basis of your understanding the text, answer the following.
4. What is the name of the opponent team of Sundarpur Tigers?
The ‘Green Warriors’. They come from the village near Sundarpur.
Ravi tells Prakash, “we are playing this match with the ‘Green Warriors’ team from the nearby
village.”
TEAM FROM WHERE WHO IS IN IT
Sundarpur Tigers Sundarpur village Deepa (captain), Ravi, Guneet, Nidhi, Imran and Prakash
Green Warriors the nearby village the opponent team
What opponent means: The opponent team is the team you play against. It is not an
enemy. At the end of this very match both teams shake hands and say “well played”.

Q3 Part II — On the basis of your understanding the text, answer the following.
3. What did Prakash do before the final whistle.
Prakash set the seventh stone on top of the pile. That completed the stack.
The book says, “The Green Warriors tried one last time to hit Ravi with the ball. Before that,
Prakash came and set the seventh stone on top. The final whistle blew.”
Here is how the seven stones went back, one by one:
STONES WHO PUT THEM BACK
1st and 2nd Ravi — he ducked when the ball nearly hit him
3rd Deepa
4th and 5th Nidhi — then she ran away from the ball
6th Ravi, with sweat dripping down his face
7th Prakash — the last stone of all
Why this won the match: A Lagori team wins only when all seven stones are back in
a pile. Prakash placed the last one just in time, so the Sundarpur Tigers won.
A slip in the book: Item 3 asks a question but ends with a full stop. It should end
with a question mark: “What did Prakash do before the final whistle?”
Q4 Part II — On the basis of your understanding the text, answer the following.
4. Who shook hands at the end of the match? Why?
The players of both teams shook hands — the Sundarpur Tigers and the Green Warriors.
The book says, “The match was over. The players from both teams shook hands and appreciated
each other for a good game.”
Why they did it: to say “well played” to each other. One team had won and one had lost, but
both had played well and fairly. Shaking hands shows that they are still friends.
Page 7
Class 4 English Chapter 8 The Lagori Champions AglaSem · NCERT Solutions
The idea behind it: This is called sportsmanship. A good player is happy when he
wins and is still kind when he loses. That is why the villagers clapped for both teams
and the Refree lifted the hands of both captains.

LET US THINK
A.1 A. Answer the following.
1. What is Lagori, and how is it played?
Lagori is a team game played with seven flat stones and a ball. Nidhi calls it “actually a game
of seven stones”. In Rajasthan the same game is called Satoliya.
How it is played — in Imran’s own words and in order:
1. The field is marked with a boundary. No player may go beyond that line.
2. Seven flat stones are stacked one over the other, in the centre of the field.
3. One team knocks the pile down with a ball.
4. The other team then rebuilds the stack.
5. While they rebuild, the first team throws the ball at them, and they must dodge it.

How a Lagori field is set up: a marked boundary, and the seven flat stones piled in the middle. The
red dotted line shows the ball being thrown at the pile.
Why the game is exciting: Two things happen at the same time. You have to put
the stones back and keep away from the ball. That is why Deepa, Nidhi and Ravi each
placed only one or two stones and then ran.
Tip: Notice the two halves of the answer. “What is Lagori?” needs seven stones, a ball,
two teams. “How is it played?” needs the five steps above.
A.2 A. Answer the following.
2. What is the name of Deepa’s team, and who are they competing against?
Deepa’s team is the Sundarpur Tigers. She is its captain.
They are competing against the ‘Green Warriors’, a team from the nearby village.
Guneet says, “our Lagori team is called by the name of Sundarpur Tigers and our friend Deepa is
our captain.” Ravi says, “we are playing this match with the ‘Green Warriors’ team from the
nearby village.”
Why Deepa is the captain: Ravi gives the reason at once — “No doubt! She runs
fast!” In Lagori a captain must reach the stones quickly and get away from the ball.
And it was Deepa who took the very first shot of the match.
A.3 A. Answer the following.
3. Why is Prakash selected by the captain for playing the Lagori match?
Because Prakash is a good runner.
Guneet said, “We should include Prakash in our team; he’s a good runner.” Deepa agreed
straight away: “Yes, he is quick.”
Why speed matters in Lagori: A player must run to the pile, put a stone on it and
get away before the ball hits him. A slow player is hit at once. Prakash’s speed
proved useful — he was the one who dashed in and set the seventh stone on top.
Page 9
Class 4 English Chapter 8 The Lagori Champions AglaSem · NCERT Solutions
Tip: The question says “selected by the captain”. In the story the idea came from
Guneet, and the captain Deepa agreed with it. Both names are worth writing in your
answer.
A.4 A. Answer the following.
4. Who told Prakash about Lagori, and what name does he use for it?
Nidhi and Imran told Prakash about Lagori.
Nidhi spoke first: “Wait, I will tell you. Lagori is actually a game of seven stones.”
Imran then explained how it is played, because, as Nidhi said, “He is also a champion of this
game.” Later Imran also gave the rules about the boundary and the centre of the field.
The name Prakash uses for it is Satoliya. As soon as Imran finished, he said, “Oh! Okay, you
mean Satoliya”, and then, “In Rajasthan, we call this game Satoliya.”
Why he knew it by another name: Prakash is Ravi’s cousin and comes from
Rajasthan. He had played the game all his life — he simply had never heard the word
Lagori.
A.5 A. Answer the following.
5. What did the villagers do after the Sundarpur Tigers won the match?
The villagers clapped and cheered for the teams, and everybody celebrated together.
The book says, “The villagers clapped and cheered the teams. The Refree lifted the hands of
both the captains and everyone celebrated with laughter and joy.”
Notice two things about the way they did it:
They clapped for both teams, not only for the winners.
The Refree lifted the hands of both captains.
Why this is the point of the whole story: The last line says the match “had brought
the villagers together, reminding everyone of the simple joys of teamwork”. The
village did not come to see one team beaten. It came to enjoy a good game together.

B.2 B. Think and discuss.
2. How does teamwork help in winning games?
Teamwork wins games because the work is shared and each player does the part he is
best at. The Lagori match shows this exactly.
Look at how the Tigers rebuilt their pile:
Ravi put back two stones and ducked.
Deepa added one.
Nidhi placed two and ran away from the ball.
Ravi came back for the sixth.
Prakash set the seventh.
Not one of them could have placed all seven stones alone. The ball would have hit them long
before. Together they did it in a few seconds.
Teamwork also helps in these ways:
Players warn each other. Imran called out, “Deepa, watch out! Here comes the ball.” Deepa
said, “Thanks Imran! I dodged the ball just in time.”
The team picks the right person for the right job. Prakash was chosen because he is a good
runner.
Everyone cheers, so nobody gives up.
Why it works: One player has two hands and one pair of eyes. Six players have
twelve hands and six pairs of eyes. When they share the work, more gets done in the
same time.
B.3 B. Think and discuss.
3. According to Deepa, Lagori was more exciting than video games. Do you think
she is right? Why or why not?
Deepa said, “That was so much fun! Even better than our video games!” and Ravi added,
“Indeed! We should play our traditional games more.”
This question asks for your own view, so either answer can be right. What matters is the reason
you give. Here are reasons on both sides.
Page 12
Class 4 English Chapter 8 The Lagori Champions AglaSem · NCERT Solutions
REASONS TO AGREE WITH DEEPA REASONS A VIDEO GAME MAY BE FUN TOO
You run, throw and dodge, so your body gets exercise. You can play it alone, even when no friend is free.
You play with real friends and cheer together. You can play indoors, in the rain or after dark.
It costs nothing — seven stones and a ball. Some games teach you puzzles and quick thinking.
The whole village can watch and join in. You can start and stop it at any moment.
Sample answer: Yes, I think Deepa is right. In Lagori you run, jump and dodge, so
your body stays fit. You also play with your friends and the whole village cheers for
you. A video game keeps you sitting in one place and you play mostly alone. I still
enjoy a video game sometimes, but outdoor games are more fun.
What the chapter is saying: This unit is called Fun with Games. Ravi gives the
chapter’s message in one line — “We should play our traditional games more.”

C. True or False.
LET US THINK
C.1 C. True or False.
1. Satoliya is played in Sundarpur village. .................
False.
In Sundarpur village the game is called Lagori. Satoliya is the name used in Rajasthan. Guneet
says it plainly: “in our Sundarpur village, we call it Lagori, and in Rajasthan, it is called as
Satoliya.”
Why this is only half wrong: It is the very same game. The children of Sundarpur do
play it — but they do not call it Satoliya. The sentence names the wrong place for the
word, so it is False.
Page 13
Class 4 English Chapter 8 The Lagori Champions AglaSem · NCERT Solutions
C.2 C. True or False.
2. Ravi plays for Green Warriors team. .................
False.
Ravi plays for the Sundarpur Tigers. He says, “we are playing this match with the ‘Green
Warriors’ team” — the word we shows he is on the other side.
The match itself proves it. “Ravi stacked two stones and ducked when the ball was about to hit
him”, and later “Ravi came running with sweat dripping down his face. He put the sixth stone in
place.” Only the Tigers were rebuilding the stack.
Tip: In a True or False question, look for one word in the story that settles it. Here
that word is we.
C.3 C. True or False.
3. Prakash set the seventh stone on top. .................
True.
The book says, “Before that, Prakash came and set the seventh stone on top. The final whistle
blew.”
Why it decided the match: The seventh stone was the last one. With it the pile was
complete, so the Sundarpur Tigers had done their job, and the referee announced,
“The Sundarpur Tigers have won!”
C.4 C. True or False.
4. Imran helped Nidhi to dodge the ball. .................
False. Imran helped Deepa, not Nidhi.
Imran called out, “Deepa, watch out! Here comes the ball.” Deepa answered, “Thanks Imran! I
dodged the ball just in time.”
Nidhi did dodge the ball too, but by herself — “She placed the fourth and fifth stones and ran
away from the ball.” Nobody warned her.
Page 14
Class 4 English Chapter 8 The Lagori Champions AglaSem · NCERT Solutions
Why Imran’s shout mattered: Deepa could not see the ball coming from behind.
Imran could. One warning from a teammate saved her. That is teamwork.
C.5 C. True or False.
5. The Sundarpur Tigers won the match. .................
True.
The moment the final whistle blew, the referee said, “The Sundarpur Tigers have won!”
Check yourself — all five answers together:

Large means big in size. Huge and big mean the same thing. Tiny means very small, so it is the
odd one out.
Why tiny is the answer: Tiny is not just a different word — it is the opposite of large.
That is what the question is looking for in every item: the word that does not match.
Your own sentence: A tiny ant carried a large crumb of bread.
A.2 A. Circle the word that does not have the same meaning as the word in bold.

Circle ignored.
Praised means said good things about somebody. Celebrated and cheered also show happiness.
Ignored means took no notice at all.
Why ignored does not fit: If the school had ignored the team, nobody would have
said a word about the victory. That is the very opposite of praising.
Your own sentence: Our Principal praised the team, but the boy in the last row ignored the
notice.

Where you have met this word already: Imran said, “The field is marked with a

is the edge; the centre is the middle. The same pair comes back here.
Spelling: The book prints center, which is the American spelling. In Indian and British
English we write centre — and that is how page 76 of this very chapter spells it.
Your own sentence: I drew a red line down the margin and a star in the centre of the page.
A.4 A. Circle the word that does not have the same meaning as the word in bold.
4. Today there was an exciting football contest at school.

Circle playground.
A contest is an event in which two sides play against each other. A match is exactly that, and an
activity is also something that is done. But a playground is a place, not an event.
How to spot it: Try putting each word into the sentence. “an exciting football match”
— yes. “an exciting football activity” — yes. “an exciting football playground” — no. A
contest happens on a playground; it is not the playground.
Your own sentence: The kabaddi contest was held on our school playground.

opponent competitor friend
Circle friend.
A rival is the person you play against. Opponent and competitor mean the same. A friend is
someone who is on your side, so it does not mean the same as rival.
Read the sentence carefully: It says her rival was her best friend. One person can
be both! But that does not make the two words mean the same thing. The question
asks about the meaning of the words, not about the person.
Link to our story: The Green Warriors were the Sundarpur Tigers’ opponents during
the match. Afterwards they shook hands like friends.
Your own sentence: My opponent in the chess match was my own cousin.

LET US LEARN
B.1 B. Let’s unscramble the letters as per the meaning of the words given.
1. Hint: “a place or region beyond a boundary”
DEOTIUS
The word is OUTSIDE.
DEOTIUS → OUTSIDE
How to find it: The hint says “beyond a boundary”. Anything past the boundary line is outside.
Now check the letters: O, U, T, S, I, D, E — all seven are there, and none is left over.
Where the word comes from in the story: Ravi says at the very start, “Let’s go and
play outside; it’s a sunny day.” And Imran says the players “are not supposed to go
beyond the boundary” — that is, not to go outside it.
Your own sentence: The ball rolled outside the boundary line.
B.2 B. Let’s unscramble the letters as per the meaning of the words given.
2. Hint: “to raise your hand and move it from side to side as a way of greeting
someone”
VEAW
The word is WAVE.
V E A W → WAV E
How to find it: Only four letters, and a word needs a vowel between them. Try the W first: W–A–
V–E fits both the letters and the hint.
Where the word comes from in the story: “A few children were playing there. They
waved at Ravi. Ravi waved back.” That is how the friends said hello before a single
word was spoken.
Page 23

Did you know? The same word wave also names the water that rolls on to a beach.
One spelling, two meanings.
Your own sentence: I wave to my grandmother every morning from the bus.
B.3 B. Let’s unscramble the letters as per the meaning of the words given.
3. Hint: “a sports competition or event in which two people or two teams compete
against each other”
HMTAC
The word is MATCH.
H M T A C → MAT C H
How to find it: The hint says two teams play against each other. That is a match. The letters M,
A, T, C, H are all there. Match is also one of the New Words on page 80.
Where the word comes from in the story: Guneet begins the whole story with it:
“Tomorrow is the Lagori match.”
Your own sentence: We watched a cricket match on Sunday.
B.4 B. Let’s unscramble the letters as per the meaning of the words given.
4. Hint: “a child of a person’s aunt or uncle”
IOUNSC
The word is COUSIN.
IOUNSC → COUSIN
How to find it: Your uncle’s or aunt’s child is your cousin. Check the six letters: C, O, U, S, I, N.
They all fit.

Where the word comes from in the story: “Ravi waved back and introduced
Prakash as his cousin to all his friends.” That is why Prakash was new to the village
and had never heard of Lagori.
Tip from the book: The word cousin is used for a boy and for a girl. So we do not say
“cousin brother” or “cousin sister”. We simply say my cousin.
Your own sentence: My cousin from Jaipur is staying with us this week.

1. I’m learning the rules of different sports like football, basketball, reading,
running and swimming.
The word that does not fit is reading.
Football, basketball, running and swimming are all sports. Reading is something you do with a
book. It is not a sport, so it does not belong in this list.
How to do this kind of question: Listen for the group name at the start of the
sentence. Here it is sports. Then check each word: does it belong to that group? The
one that does not is your answer.
Tip for listening: The teacher reads the sentence only once or twice. Keep your

The twenty boxes printed on pages 84–85. Under each box you write the name of the
friend who fits it.
This is a speaking game, not a writing exercise. You walk round the class, ask your friends
questions, and write a name under each box.
How to do it:
1. Read one box, for example “Is a good swimmer”.
2. Turn the box into a question: “Are you a good swimmer?”
3. Ask a friend. If the answer is yes, write that friend’s name under the box.
4. Move on to the next friend and the next box.
Page 29

5. Try to use a different name in every box, so that you speak to twenty friends.
Here is how to turn each box into a question:
THE BOX SAYS YOU ASK
Enjoys outdoor games Do you enjoy outdoor games?
Enjoys riding a bicycle Do you enjoy riding a bicycle?
Likes art Do you like art?
Loves to do gardening Do you love gardening?
Loves to eat pomegranate Do you love eating pomegranate?
Is born in December Were you born in December?
Favourite colour is Grey Is grey your favourite colour?
The first name starts with an “M” Does your first name start with M?
Who loves to play Lagori or Satoliya Do you love playing Lagori or Satoliya?
Has seen India Gate Have you seen India Gate?
Sample answer (one row filled in):
Enjoys outdoor games — Ravi · Enjoys riding a bicycle — Nidhi · Likes art — Guneet
· Loves to do gardening — Deepa · Loves to eat pomegranate — Imran
Why the box wording changes when you ask: The box is written about somebody
else — “likes art”. When you speak to the person, you say you, so the verb changes:
“Do you like art?” That is the little grammar lesson hidden inside this game.
Tip: Speak clearly and look at your friend. Say “thank you” after each answer, even if
it was a no.

RUNNER column 6, rows 2–7 downwards
TEAMWORK column 8, rows 1–8 downwards
WAVED column 9, rows 1–5 downwards
INCLUDE row 10, letters 3–9 across
Why these words and no others: Every one of them is used in the story. Ravi waved;
the stones were stacked; Deepa dodged; the referee blew the whistle; the Green
Warriors played the Tigers; sweat was dripping down Ravi’s face; Prakash is a good
runner; Guneet wanted to include him; and the match taught everyone about
teamwork.
Tip for a word hunt: Take one column at a time and read it downwards, then
upwards. Most of the words in this grid are hidden that way, and only two are
hidden across.

I saw a peacock dancing in the rain.
How to build it:
1. Who? — I.
2. Did what? — saw.
3. Saw what? — a peacock.
4. Doing what? — dancing.
5. Where? — in the rain.
Why this order: English sentences usually run who → does what → to whom or
what → where. Follow that order and the words fall into place almost by themselves.
B.4 B. Rearrange the words to form meaningful sentences.
4. white / there / and / grey / are / the / clouds / sky / in
There are white and grey clouds in the sky.
How to build it: The words there and are go together at the start — There are. Then say what
there are: white and grey clouds. Then where: in the sky.
Why we say “There are” and not “There is”: There is more than one cloud. For one
thing we say There is a cloud. For many things we say There are clouds.
B.5 B. Rearrange the words to form meaningful sentences.
5. fresh / need / every day / water / plants
Plants need fresh water every day.
How to build it: Who? — Plants. Need what? — fresh water. How often? — every day.
Where the word fresh goes: A word that describes a thing comes just before that
thing: fresh water, grey clouds, flat stones. We never say “water fresh”.

One thing to be careful about: A question is also a sentence — it too begins with a
capital letter and has a complete meaning. In this exercise the word “Sentence” is
used for a sentence that tells, and “Question” for one that asks.

Let us Do — Page 87
A. Make your own ‘Lagori Team Badge’.
LET US DO
A A. Divide the class into small groups and imagine that you are forming a Lagori
team. Each team will create your own ‘Lagori Team Badge’ using art and creativity,
reflecting your understanding of teamwork and traditional games.
Instructions:
· Materials Needed: Drawing sheets, coloured pencils, markers, glitter, and any
other decorative materials.
· Each group will decide a name for their team (e.g., Rainbow Runners or Sky
Warriors).
· Design a unique badge or logo that represents your team’s spirit, values, or region.
· For example, you can include images like stacked stones, a ball, or symbols of
unity and tradition.
Once completed, each group will present their badge to the class and explain: the
meaning behind their design; how it reflects the spirit of Lagori and teamwork.
This is a group activity. Nobody can do it for you — but here is exactly how to do it well.
Step by step:
1. Sit in your group. Four or five children is a good size.
2. Choose a team name. Take one word from your place and one strong word, like the book’s
own Sundarpur Tigers. Everyone in the group must agree on it.
3. Choose a shape. A shield, a circle or a star all work well for a badge.
4. Draw the main picture in the middle. The pile of seven stones is the best sign of Lagori.
5. Add two small pictures at the sides — the ball on one side, and something that means
togetherness on the other, such as two joined hands.
6. Write the team name in big letters above or below the picture.
7. Colour it and add glitter last, after the pencil lines are finished.
8. Get ready to speak. Each group must say what the design means and how it shows
teamwork.

SEVEN
STONES
One pile. One team.
One idea for a team badge: the seven stones in the middle, the ball on one side and two joined hands
on the other, with the team name above and below.
Sample team names: Sundarpur Tigers · Green Warriors · Rainbow Runners · Sky
Warriors · Seven Stones · Stone Stackers · Village Falcons.

Sample answer — what to say when you show your badge: Our team is called the
Seven Stones. In the middle of our badge we have drawn the pile of seven flat
stones, because Lagori is a game of seven stones. On the left is the ball that knocks
the pile down. On the right are two hands joined together. They show that no one
child can build the pile alone — we need the whole team. We coloured the badge
yellow because we play in the sunshine.
What makes a good badge: Every part of it should mean something you can
explain. A badge with three well-chosen pictures is better than a badge covered in
pretty drawings that mean nothing.

LET US DO
B B. Point out the eight differences between the two pictures given below.
The two pictures on page 88 — what is in them: The book prints the
same full-colour painting twice, one above the other. In each painting
three children are playing with a ball on a grassy hill. A girl in a red
top and blue jeans stands on the left and holds a balloon on a string.
A boy in a yellow t-shirt and blue shorts is in the middle, jumping in
the air, with the ball just above his head. A boy in a red t-shirt and
white shorts stands on the right with his arms out. Behind them are
brown hills, a leafy tree, some tall pointed trees, a sun, a cloud and a
bird. Eight small things in the lower picture are not the same as in the
upper one.
A short description of the two paintings on page 88, because the book prints them as
full-colour art. Look at your own book to find the eight changes.
Here are the eight differences. In each one, the first picture is the upper one and the second is
the lower one.

Chapter at a glance
Part I — a new game, an old game. Ravi takes his cousin Prakash to the children’s park.
Guneet wants Prakash in the team because “he’s a good runner”. Prakash asks what Lagori
is, and everybody looks at him “with great surprise”.
What Lagori is. Nidhi says it is “actually a game of seven stones”. Imran explains: the seven
flat stones are stacked one above the other; one team knocks the pile down with a ball, and
the other team rebuilds it while dodging the ball.
One game, two names. Prakash says, “In Rajasthan, we call this game Satoliya.” Guneet is
delighted: in Sundarpur village it is Lagori, in Rajasthan it is Satoliya.
The rules. Imran adds that the field is marked with a boundary, the players may not go
beyond it, and the seven stones are stacked in the centre of the field.
Part II — the match. The referee blows the whistle. Deepa, the Tigers’ captain, takes the
first shot and the stones scatter. Ravi, Deepa, Nidhi and Ravi again put the stones back —
and Prakash sets the seventh stone on top just before the final whistle. The Sundarpur
Tigers win.
The lesson. Both teams shake hands and appreciate each other. The villagers clap, the
Refree lifts both captains’ hands, and the match “had brought the villagers together,
reminding everyone of the simple joys of teamwork”. Deepa says it was even better than
video games.
The rest of the chapter. Let us Think has comprehension, discussion, True or False, fill in the
blanks and a sequencing task. Let us Learn teaches the odd word out and unscrambling. Let
us Listen, Let us Speak, Let us Write (a word grid, rearranging words, sentence or question)
and Let us Do (a team badge and eight differences) finish the chapter.
